Plasma cell, Mott cell, buffy coat preparation

One Plasma Cell or plasmacytoid lymphocyte with many vacuoles (Mott cell), many mature neutrophils and 1 monocyte. Side edge of buffy coat preparation of blood. Immature and abnormal cells are more likely to be found in peripheral areas (side edges and tail end) than in the body of a smear. A concentrate of the nucleated cells or buffy coat preparation, greatly enhances finding these cells when present in small numbers. Fever of unknown etiology. Buffy coat preparation blood - 50X
